Ski Programs - Chamonix Straightline Ski Camp
Once again I will be teaming up with superstar skier and coach extrordinaire Gordy Peifer to offer our much talked about Euro ski camp in Chamonix.
A little bit about this camp: full days of skiing and full evenings of video analysis/learning/refining and a bit of bourbon tasting. Destinations include the Aiguille du Midi, Courmayer off the Helbronner, Les Grand Montets, Verbier and more. In addition to one-on-one coaching and video analysis, there will be instruction on avalanche safety, glacier safety, terrain negotiation, steeps techniques, etc. You'll need a helmet, harness and avalanche-safety-gear. We'll do a lift-accessed tour as part of this camp, so you'll need to either rent or bring touring gear. Renting is common in Europe so don't sweat it if you don't have skins, etc. Our hotel is a highly rated two star with excellent food. We'll go to other restaraunts, too. Our transportation will be via rental cars.
Who should attend: This camp is for a strong skier looking to get better and challenge themselves in some of the sickest terrain in the world. You don't need to be an amazing skier, you don't need to be extreme, but you should be able to handle any and all conditions and almost any terrain comfortably and with stamina. Our safety is paramount, so no fall-you-die skiing, but you should be relatively comfortable with exposure and pushing yourself.
The tentative program:
Day 1
LES GRANDS MONTETS
Time to get acclimated to the steeps and incredible vertical only found here.A morning intro and briefing session will be followed with some superbe runs on some wide open glaciers. There will be plenty of time to find your ski legs and capture some video. Night in Chamonix.
Day 2
LE TOUR
This tiny hamlet tucked away in the upper end of the Chamonix valley offers hidden gems to those that know where to look. There are always some great lines to score and adventure to be found here in Le Tour.
Day 3
AIGUILLE DU MIDI - ITALY SKI TOUR
We can't make a trip to the Chamonix valley without riding the tram to the top of the Aiguille du Midi (3842m). To spice things up however, we plan on doing a short ski tour over to the Italian border and skiing down into Italy. The final run of the day will be one to remember - all the way back down into Chamonix just in time for a cold one. Night in Chamonix.
Day 4
SECRET DESTINATION
The day's venue will depend entirely on the current conditions and may remain secret until we depart...Night in Chamonix.
Day 5
VERBIER
For those staying on for the additional Swiss days you will be rewarded with some more big mountain skiing in the 4 Vallees. We will head right to the top of the Mont Fort for a couple of runs to get warmed up before heading to Le Col des Mines and possible La Tzoumaz. Night in Martigny.
Day 6
VERBIER
The last day of the camp will be dedicated to hitting the best possible snow. Hopefully we can incorporate a short hike part way up Le Bec des Rosses for some great steep skiing action. Apres Ski celebration in Verbier.
Please contact me or Gordy Peifer to sign up.
