Winter 2010/11 Ski Programs

Off-Piste Skiing & Boarding

As the saying goes "One day or another you will ski Chamonix..."

My winter programs are targeted towards advanced skiers and boarders looking to maximize their winter holiday by spending as much "quality" time in the mountains as possible. By quality time I mean just that - I specialize in smaller than average groups (never more than 6 per guide) of the same level ability which helps to ensure a safer day in the mountains as well as more personal attention.

I have chosen Chamonix as base of operations for the following reasons:

  • massive vertical drop

  • varied terrains and exposures allowing for nearly perfect snow

  • extensive lift systems accessing limitless terrain

In just a few keywords - destination and timing are the most important decisions to be made when skiing or boarding off-piste. They can mean the difference between a good day and a fantastic one and are certainly crucial in having a safe day out...

In my quest to ski the best possible conditions my programs often take us to neighboring Switzerland or Italy. It is not uncommon during my programs to start skiing in one country on sunny spring snow and finish in another on light powder... neither is skiing powder 5 days after the last big dump.

I also offer custom programs for groups to some of the other snow mecca's of Europe: Verbier, Alagna, La Grave, Saint Anton - please inquire.

If you do ski with me you will soon find out about the marvelous Italian side of Mont Blanc and what I consider to be the best skiing in the world.

Your Guide:
I am a ski and board fanatic just like you and my goal is to have fun while in the mountains. I have been guiding for over 18 years in the Alps and I have also helped organize and run several Freeride competitions, both as chief safety guide and as a judge. Come draw on my experience and knowledge to enjoy an unforgettable vacation.

Some other important factors to consider when hiring a guide are:

  • Their ability on making the right decision at the right time - crucial when deciding where to ski & board. Local knowledge is important and more importantly snow "knowledge".
  • Their skiing/boarding ability - not all guides are as good as you might think...I ski and board more for passion than for work, I want to have as much fun as you do.

I always believe that it is better to have a bit of flexibility and wait an extra 10 minutes to have the "BEST" possible conditions, rather than spending half the day trying to find them...

* Actual course details and climbs may vary depending on conditions and or participants level.
